The view from Colwell Bay

As you come to the bottom of Colwell Chine and you look across the Solent you’ll see Hurst Castle directly in front of you.  To the right you’ll see Brambles Chine and following the coast line along you’ll see Fort Albert (which now contains private residencies).  Please note there is no access to Fort Albert. To the left you’ll see various beach huts and the prom walk to Totland Bay.

Paddle boarding at Colwell Bay

You can rent a paddle board for 30mins – 2 hours from the guys at SupDog PaddleBoard Hire during weekends and holidays. (At the bottom of Colwell Chine, turn right and look for their distinctive blue hut). Worth emailing/messaging them to check they’re open before you head down to the beach. For further information email them at whatsup@supdogrentals.co.uk

During the summer months (1st May – 30th September) dogs are not allowed on the beach at Colwell Bay.  However, your dog can enjoy the beach (during any month) in the zone from the right of the slipway at Colwell Chine all the way to Brambles Chine.  This area is clearly marked on the information board at the bottom of Colwell Chine.

Colwell Beach Walks

Following a landslip in 2012 the coastal footpath between Colwell Bay and Totland Bay re-opened in September 2015.  You can now once again enjoy the picturesque walk between Colwell and Totland Bay the latter has a pier, toilets, and The Waterfront restaurant.
